The Genealogy Happy Dance: Virgil Vaughn (Vaughan)

Can we talk about the Genealogy "Happy Dance" for a moment? You know, that moment you find a piece of information, story, or a document and you literally do a little dance. I think every family historian and genealogist has experienced this!

Today, thanks to the Family Search website (familiysearch.org), I FINALLY found a record for my great grand uncle, Virgil V. Vaughn (Vaughan).

I am so excited!

I became intrigued by Virgil when I found his "Engineers Time Book" from 1914 in my Great Grandmother's Purse (you can view that post here). He worked as a Brakeman for the railroad in Kentucky.

Virgil V. Vaughn (Vaughan) is the brother of my great grandfather, Okey. He was born May 1890 in Sheridan, Lincoln County, West Virginia. He is the son of James R. Vaughn (Vaughan) and Ellen Midkiff. He is their eldest son.

While researching the Family Search website, I located his marriage certificate from 1915. He married Mary Margaret McLean on May 06 1915 in Catlettsburg, Boyd County, KY. She is the daughter of Arthur McLean & Nellie May Blake. Mary was born in 1894 in Lincoln County, WV and her death year is  recorded as 1964 in Cabell County, WV.

Honestly, I have more questions than answers at this time, but I can find comfort in knowing I have a little more information today than I did yesterday. So for now, I will continue my Genealogy "Happy Dance!"
